A new DDO podcast! 4th Anniversary Event Announced! A Secret Survey...

Wow!  Big news today...

Lessah and Samius' New DDO Podcast!

You read it right - can this be considered DDOcast's first "spin-off" show?!?!  Maybe.  Either way, Lessah and Samius have been motivated to begin doing a mid-week show of their own to discuss DDO and everything therin.  Here's the word from 'em:

Cocktail Hour with Lessah and Samius!

As it turns out, Lessah and Samius of the DDO Cast had so much to talk about this week, that they decided to record a separate show!  If things work out… the show will be hosted regularly by Lessah and Samius on their own RRS feed via CyberEars!  (Our favorite podcast hosting site!)

Get your favorite drink and sit down with Lessah and Samius as they enjoy a tasty beverage. On this pilot show you can get the run down on the mysterious origins of these two nuts.  Get a run down of their favorite crafting rituals and even learn what Lessah (and Samius) is wearing! And a contest or two and much much more, on this weeks Cocktail Hour with Lessah and Samius.

Oh, and awesome to see them go through Cyberears for this.  Good to see the Cyberfolks getting more DDO love.

Might as well check it out here as well if you'd like:

This is quite cool, can't wait to see how things develop in the coming weeks.  Between this and Yak's Cast it's like DDO is FINALLY starting to get a bunch of good podcasts after years of just little 'ol me.  Good to see/hear.

I will of course link to this in the sidebar to the right as well.

4th Anniversary Celebration Announced!

Yup!  Word from Tolero today on DDO.com HERE:

Get Ready to Party!
The DDO Birthday celebration is right around the corner, so get ready for the big bash! All characters on all servers created prior to the Birthday event will receive a special gift in their inventory for the party, so be sure to make your characters ahead of time (starting today)! Stay tuned for more details on the festivities for DDO's 4th Birthday!

Obviously not a lot of info about the upcoming Festival of the Traveler, but good to hear that more is coming soon.  Wonder what the special gift will be - Twigs? Rez Shrine Cakes? Djinni Cakes?  Something totally new?  Can't wait.

Turbine Survey - Shh!  It's a Secret:

A Turbine person by the name of Insightus Maximus has announced a new survey being sent to select members of the DDO community.  Here's the word from him, which can be found HERE:

Turbine Survey
Turbine periodically asks players to give us feedback about their gaming habits, favorite games, pastimes, what they like to do most when they play our games, and similar information.

I'm sending out a survey link to a random group of players. If you receive this survey, please fill it out.

As an incentive for completing this survey, Turbine will be giving out a $50 American Express Gift Card to some players (selected at random from completed surveys).

Reminder: No one from Turbine will ever ask you for your account password.

Fifty bucks will buy 5,000 Turbine Points...He does go on to say that people who fill out the survey will need to abide by a Non-Disclosure Agreement (aka - can't talk about it).  Too bad, but not surprising.  Turbine is basically gathering input about various ideas that may or may not be brought into the game.  If you get the survey - fill it out!  It's important.

State of Europe:

Well, Brannigan's back and Dnote's sorta talking.  Update on the state of things over in Europe from Codemasters' DNote today and yesterday:

a) Population problem – what plans do you have to ensure a quality gaming experience or do the long term plans you have announced include solving this problem. People being able to form groups in a reasonable amount of time and find others to adventure with is paramount to the gameplay.

We can not discuss any of these plans at this time.

b) Update 3 (11) – when and the delay (do some investigation)?

The delay is related to the above plans and the reasons we can not discuss them. The when is not concrete at this time, but I will provide it as soon as I have it.

c) F2p and the future plans that you have mentioned regarding the future of DDO EU and some level of answer.

We would still like to adopt the free to play systems in the European service, this position has not changed and it is tied into the long term plans being discussed at this time, which as stated above we can not elaborate on at the moment.

d) Can we have some in game events to fill the gap – riddles, gladiatorial nights?(if you do not want to run them then have a gm spawn me some goodies and I will organize something). This is within your power and does not need any authorisation from Turbine.

Already covered this, the GM team are not providing event support at this time and when they are, each event is judge on its own merits, but a case will be put forward for some form of in-game event in DDO.

I'll let the comments speak for themselves for now.  Hopefully CM will pull it's head out of it's...no, wait.  I mean hopefully CM will update us on future plans soon. (just joking, folks...)

Lots going on!  Interesting week in DDO-land.

    Hi!

Good news, interesting read. But to be honest, I think having 3 podcasts isn't very wise. I think it would be much better if you those other podcasters joined forces with DDOCast to provide one-uber-show each week. And that's how I foresee the future - other PodCasts just won't have enough listeners, because people have limited time to listen to anything. This will lead to choosing between PodCasts, and DDOCast is the most informative and reliable DDO PodCast since years.

So, good to see PodCast scene of DDO growing, but the best PodCasts are always results of joined forces, people .
