Update One: The Latest

Hi everyone!

Bunch of stuff to pass along...

Hotfix? Yes, but no.

Turbine had announced tentative plans to have a Friday hotfix to deal with a few issues with the patch of Update One.  Bug fix, probably Shroud restore-age, that kind of thing.  Late word is that it's been delayed, stay tuned for more info.  From Tolero:

UPDATE: The maintenance has been postponed. We will bring more information when it has been rescheduled.

The DDO Game Servers are tentatively scheduled to be brought down on Friday, October 30th from 7:00 - 11:00 AM Eastern (-5 GMT) for a hotfix. Thanks for your patience, and we'll see you back in the game soon!

Tomes, an important statement is given....

For future reference, and to make it easy to access for people, I think it's good to get down on the site Eladrin's comment today about the status of no-minimum level Tomes.

Originally posted here in the "Retroactive Tome Change" thread.

We've done some more investigation, and here's what we're going to do:

Currently on the servers, inherent bonus suppression is applying to all characters. If you ate a no-minimum-level tome two years ago or today and are under the current minimum levels for the bonuses, the inherent bonuses that the tome applied being clamped. (+1 for levels 3-6, +2 for levels 7-10, +3 for levels 11-14, +4 for levels 15-18, and technically +5 for levels 19-20.)

We're going to go implement what was our original plan.

If you ate a no-ML tome (or eat one over the next few days), on patch day the entire bonus will express itself fully, regardless of your character's level. On patch day, any leftover old tomes will be replaced with new tomes (that possess standard minimum levels).

You have a little bit of time to voraciously consume any no-ML tomes you might possess before they're replaced. They'll temporarily be suppressed, but they'll express their full bonuses on patch day. (If you ate a no-ML Intelligence tome, you may want to hold off on leveling until after patch day to get the full bonus.)

When you lesser or greater reincarnate a character, all tomes will be applied using the rules that new tomes follow. (+1 at level 3, +2 at level 7, +3 at level 11, +4 at level 14, +5 at level 19.)

Massively/MMORPG.com Update One Articles:

Massively.com as always delivers an excellent look at Update One.  Here's the LINK to it.  So has MMORPG.com, another strong resource for MMO news and info.  LINK to their Update One article.

DDO Compendium Update:

Simple LINK to the release notes.  Worth a read.  They continue to improve it.  I've found myself using it for reference actually quite a bit these days, for things like what metamagics exactly can be used with a Cleric's line of healing spells.  Heal is different from Mass Mod, for example.  Borror's DDO Wiki remains an absolute necessary resource as well.

Interactive DDO Game Guide Update:

Sanadil's another one of those folks who just makes things that make DDO so much more excellent.  His Crafting Planner was great, but the program is now so much more.  It's so good.  Now, it's updated.  Here's a LINK to information about it.

I got the chance to run through all of the new Path of Inspiration quest chain and get a look into the most excellent named loot chest at the end of The Mindsunder.  It's so cool.  Nothing big for me dropped, but three great items did for others.  There's some cool descriptions around if you want to look for it.  I look forward to chatting about it this weekend.

Finally, I thought I'd leave you with a followup to the email we read in Episode 140 last Saturday.  The email involved playing DDO on a 150" diagonal TV.  Yes, quite cool.  Well the emailer, who wishes to remain anonymous, was kind enough to send me a few pics of the getup itself.  Oh, man.  Yes!
