The day after tomorrow...

So, yeah.  Just to be clear, the blog post below this one is my attempt at an April Fool's Day joke.  I thought it was funny, but I've since received some nasty emails telling me I'm an idiot for 'falling for the expansion scam'.  Yes, that was the whole point of the post!  - Jerry

That's great Jerry. I love April 1st. I tend to think of it as Corporate Sense of Humor Day. Thanks for playing along, and making me giggle like a little girl.

    Jerry,

Something else would have been cute to have posted as an April fools joke, but not this. I have talked to many people that have thought your "joke" was real, and have read several people on guild websites say "hey make sure you go reserve your copy so you don't lose out." The type of joke that makes people go out and spend money on something that doesn't exist is cruel. This joke did that because there are people out there that are wanting a paid expansion but don't want to believe Turbine when they say it's not happening because of people like you that play cruel joke like this. Find another type of joke that doesn't make people go out and try to spend money on a product that was supposed to happen and now isn't, especially when sites like Gamestop won't take it off their list of games that are coming soon.

You do raise some good points, Stephanie - it's noted for the next time I try to do something like this. Thing is, I took the press release from the Mod 3 press release, and since I used the pics and info about a Mod that's already in the game, I figured that people wouldn't get confused about it. However, I was wrong! I've also heard from folks who thought it was a real announcement. Didn't anyone notice that I changed the name of the CEO to April Sloof, mention that "naked PvP" was coming, Atari released a game called Littlest Pet Shop of Horrors and Happy Kitty Friends in the Dungeon of Doom, etc? Guess people didn't read it closely enough...

I have to admit - you got me with it for about a minute, till I actually started reading through it. I think this was a better 'foolie' than 'pimp my warforged', by a long shot

Amazingly enough after checking Gamestop and Amazon neither site would would allow me to spend money on an expansion that didn't exist (isn't technology great!) so I don't know how that could have been a problem for anyone.

I was able to stop receiving newsletters from Gamestop by simply changing an option on my account so there's the answer to that problem as well.

Just some helpful solutions from a guy with a sense of humor.

Good job as always Mr. Jerry!!!

Yeah, I wasn't able to find any preorder info on this as well through Amazon or Gamestop. I know they - used - to take preorder money for it, but it looks like they've finally gotten their act together after being repeatedly told it didn't exist from the Turbine folks. Glad that they are no longer taking people's money for the game!

Sorry about that Nick. I'd say this April Fool's thing kind of backfired overall. Oh well, live and learn.
