The Abbot, The Video, The Event...
The Abbot Strikes! Finally got the chance to check out the Abbot raid over the weekend! Yup, Mockduck now has plenty of xp debt to work off.... Good times, though, and I think I learned quite a bit about how to get the raid done. Thanks to the pick-up group organized by Hildor/Thrandor for the good times. No major stress, people checked things out, worked on the puzzles, etc. Hmm...this raid is insane, but definitely beatable with the right group!

DDOcast's Raid Week on Sarlona!
As some of you know, I've been a slacker when it comes to running DDO's raids. It's been brought to my attention that I really should run them, and I agree! So, I made a concerted effort to FINALLY get raid ready. As I thought of it, I began coming up with an idea to run them all over a week and make a bit of an event out of it! I've now done all but the Titan raid, but that means that this week will feature my first titan run!
When: Week of January 6th-12th, 2008
Time: All raids will begin at 9pm Eastern
Where: Sarlona server
Difficulty: Normal, until Saturday
For: People of all basic levels. Keep in mind I'm a capped 14, so you won't get xp if you're running too low! But, I'd be happy to have some 8-10's in the Tempest Spine run and am open to whoever thinks they can handle it.
-------------------------------------
Sunday, January 6th:
The Black Abbot, or "Let's Get Some XP Debt!"
I'll start off the week with a look at the Black Abbot! I figure since this will lead to xp debt, we'd run this first so we can work off the debt during the week. This one will be mostly for fun, without stress, and without a goal of winning. Granted, that'd be super-cool if we actually got this one done, but I'd like to use this time to give us all a chance to check out the puzzles, see the challenges and get thinking a bit about how we can actually beat this guy! We'll start at 9pm and run for a few hours or until we get sick of it....
--------------------------------------
Monday, January 7th:
Tempest Spine, or "Sor'jek Gets an Eyeful!"
On Monday I'll be hosting a "nekkid" run through Tempest Spine! By "nekkid", I mean we get rid of all armor, weapons and items with the exception of spell components and run through the raid! We are allowed to equip only the things we collect from breakables and chests through the run. By the end, we'll be pretty well-equipped! Characters can use their inherant benefits, so fighters can trip, casters can cast, clerics can heal, etc. If you've not tried this way of running the raid before, now's your chance! It's tons of fun.
------------------------------------
Tuesday, January 8th:
Vault of Night, parts 5 and 6, or "Velah Shakedown!"
On Tuesday, I'll be running the dragon raid! Pretty basic stuff here.
------------------------------------
Wednesday, January 9th:
Against the Demon Queen, or "Queen: We Are The Champions!"
On Wednesday, it's desert time! I've run this one a couple of times before, but never succeeded, so I hope to correct that this time around! We'll meet at the entrance to the desert and run to the raid together, in order to prevent any pre-raid deaths and confusion. Since this is a shorter one, maybe we'll do some Bloodstone runs after we get done!
-----------------------------------
Thursday, January 10th:
The Gianthold, or "I Believe I Can Fly (into spikes)!"
On Thursday, it's Gianthold time! We'll take down the Stormreaver fer sure... Just a reminder that you will need to have the pre-raid done as well before running with us!
-----------------------------------
Friday, January 11th:
The Titan, or "Big Toaster vs. The Ants"
Friday night is Titan-night! I'm embarrassed to say that I've never actually run the Titan before, so this'll give me a chance to finally write this raid off of "The List"! Tactics and thought will be key here. Experienced Titan runners more than welcome...
----------------------------------
Saturday, January 12th:
Stormreaver and Sor'jek, or "They Might Be Giants, Part 2: Die Hard(er)!"
Saturday will begin with another run through the two raids with easy re-flagging and a 3-day timer, but this time we'll run it on Hard! When we're done, I'd be up for giving the 'ol Abbot another try as well...
-----------------------------------
That's it! Raid week will give us a chance to have fun in a stress-free environment. You can run as many or as few of the raids as you want to. Keep in mind these things:
- You MUST be raid ready by the time we begin at 9pm! There will be NO running of Vons 1-4, Gianthold pre-raid, etc. Do it on your own time! A really good guide on getting raid ready has been written by Xirxx on the ddo.com forums, here's the LINK:
- All raid loot will be distributed in a pretty basic manner: If you get assigned raid loot, it's yours to keep or give away, no questions asked! If you decide you don't want an item, ANYONE who feels like they can use an item (including fighters for wisdom items, for example) can opt to roll for it. We'll roll 1d20, highest number wins. You can roll on as much loot as is offered up for the roll. If there's a tie, the tie-breaker will be a roll of 1d2008, highest number wins. Yes, it's a BIG dice...
- If there are openings when the day comes to run the raid, I will be logging in a bit early and posting up a LFM. I'll probably check to see if some guildies are interested, then see if other player's guildies are interested, then PUG the rest.
ALL RAIDS WILL BEGIN AT 9PM PROMPTLY (that's the goal, at least). Please consider logging in about 10-15 minutes early to get ready and meet up by the entrance.
So, sound like fun?!? Does to me. TO BE A PART OF THIS, just post your desire to run in the comments section below and say what nights-raids you are interested in. Please don't submit your name unless you are pretty sure you can make it. If you find out you can't make it, please send me an email as soon as you can, so I can fill up spots with other folks! You can also submit your name by sending an email to ddocast@gmail.com or by posting in this THREAD on the DDO.com forums.
Expect photos of the raids to end up on DDOcast.com!
In terms of character makeup, just submit the character or characters you'd like to include, and we can do some last-minute switcharoos if we want to. Otherwise, we'll run with what we have!
###
Anyway, hope you have a fun and safe New Year's Eve and a fantastic 2008!
