Merry Festivault, and an early Christmas present for Atari

Merry Festival of the Twelfth Moon, all!  Festivault is nigh!  Here's a post from Quarion today (Monday), featuring fun news and a happy downtime:

The DDO servers will be updated on Tuesday, December 11th, and will be unavailable between 6am and 12pm EST. This update will implement the content for the Holiday Event, Festival of the Twelfth Moon, as well as make certain game improvements. Full patch notes will be posted soon.

Happy Holidays!

Here's a post from the Jester of the Festivault:

Twas the day before Festivult
and all through the land
All the players were drooling
and wringing their hands

The jester was missing
and nowhere to be found
'til one day, all the servers came down

And when they came back,
There he was with his pack
Serving up all those delicious, holiday snacks!

Tonight, the Coin Lords will fly high overhead, scattering Festival Coins across Stormreach and Xen'drik to celebrate Festival so that tomorrow, all the good Adventurers can start collecting them!

The Festival of the Twelfth Moon is a holiday commissioned by the Coin Lords of Stormreach. Since ancient times, the folk of Eberron have observed Long Shadows during these chill weeks -- a grim season when the power of the Shadow, god of the Dark Six, is at its strongest. Dire magic gathers in dusky corners, and evil stalks the night in a thousand guises. The Coin Lords have determined that the terror of Long Shadows must end! To this end, they devised the festival as a celebration to drive evil out of the city. Instead of cowering from the Shadow, citizens are encouraged to exchange gifts with their adventuring partners and loved ones. And by slaying the monsters who threaten the city's well-being, they may collect Festival Coins to demonstrate their dauntless spirit in the face of Long Shadows and the Dark Six!

If you are bold enough to collect any Festival Coins, look for the Jester of Festivult, a disguised "friend of the Coin Lords." Nobody knows the true name of this fellow, but he can easily be identified by his colorful garb and dwarven stature. He will exchange Festival Coins for gifts from House Ghallanda and House Cannith, crafted especially for the season. These treasures can be found nowhere else, so do not miss your chance to acquire them!

From the Coin Lords, the dragonmarked Houses and all of Stormreach, we wish you a Happy Festival and a profitable new year!

Sincerely, Sir Lawrence d’Deneith

Hmm...."certain game improvements?"  Wonder what that'll be.  I'll let you all know once we find out.  Anyway, last year's event was great fun, featuring fun times and cool little goodies with great benefits.  Lookin' forward to it!

Just a reminder about Wednesday's dev chat on the Warcry network.  I'll try to be there and post up a rundown of what was said.  Here's a

Also, sounds like Atari's employees are getting an early Christmas present!  Atari corporate announced today that it's reached a deal with one of its lenders to supply them a line of credit that will, quote, "enable Atari to continue its operations through the holiday season."  Here's a
LINK
to the press release.

Ya know, I've certainly said some harsh things about Atari's theoretical distribution of DDO....but it's important to remember that there are real people working there who are probably having a fairly stressful time of it at work, and uncertain about their future over the holidays.  So, this news is good for them.  And hopefully Atari will survive and give DDO its due!

Okay, that's it for tonight.  Later!
