Risia Screens, Quarion Posts, Merlask Returns and more!
Spoiler alert!!! Here's some cool screens I've taken from the Risia test server, including what might be the new splash screen! Do not continue reading if you don't want to know...
First off, here's a look at a shield that you "pick up" from the new Litany of the Dead quests. You collect various items and put them together, unveiling a picture. And turn it in for stuff. This is a kinda fun new mechanic to the game that I think lots of people will enjoy.

Next up are three screenshots of the Orchard of the Macabre, the new outdoor area coming to the game with the release of Mod 5. It's located in the Necropolis, near where you pick up the new Litany quests. Tough stuff - I've died a lot in here since downloading Risia, but I'm sure it will be easier with a group.

I like it!

AND FINALLY....Here's what might be the next splash screen. No writing yet, so kinda hard to know, but if Turbine's following their past history, this is it! Crunch! Smoosh.

Quarion made an interesting post on the DDO.com forums yesterday that gives us all some insight on what's in the works. I'm copying it here:

I know its been tough waiting for Module 5 to come out, and there have been many requests ( okay...demands
) for State of the Game posts, and dev chats and more communication.
We've been working hard on a plan to get you more information, and now that we have 6 community persons around here now, instead of 1, this should be a big help.
One of the reasons we've become so secretive about many things is to prevent the getting the community's hopes up on a feature or event that isnt final or set in stone. That feature or event may not play out as announced or at all.
If you can promise me, that you wont take this post as a promise to deliver by a certain date, or a solid, plan in stone,
[whisper] I'll let you in on a few secrets.[/whisper] /lookbothways
We've already been working on many of the things the community has been requesting, and here's some of what you might see in the near future:
Thanks always, for your patience, and for being one of the best gaming communities out there.
-Quarion.
Pretty cool, huh? Here's the funny Happy Place pic:
That's freakin' brilliant.

Merlask is back. But much like the switch from Gandalf the grey to Gandalf the white, she's got a new name....Tolero!
Here's the post from Patience:
Greetings everyone!
We're pleased to announce a new addition to the Turbine Community Team: Tolero! Tolero was tapped for the community team after demonstrating extraordinary dedication and contributions to the Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach community. As the player Merlask, she wrote game and server guides, organized events and parties both in-game and in real life, had a regular segment on DDOCast, and has become one of the most recognized names in the DDO community.
Tolero will be working with both the DDO and LOTRO communities, primarily helping with forums moderation, content creation, and live events. Please join us in congratulating her on her new position on the Turbine OCR team!
Cool, huh?

Congrats to Lessah and Clankenbeard for getting DDO's Thread of the Week this week for the video that you can see in a separate post below. Awesome!

We've already been working on many of the things the community has been requesting, and here's some of what you might see in the near future:
- A State of the Game address is being drafted as we speak
- Regular dev chats have been tentatively scheduled throughout the next year
- My hope is to have them roughly quarterly. We'll see!
- One of the main reasons we have brought Tolero (formerly known as community member: Merlask) to the team, is because of her vast experience with live events. Together we are working on a long-term plan to hold exciting, deep and involving live events throughout Stormreach. The plan is looking great and I can't wait to expose you to it!
- You may have seen signs of this plan already.

- The forum is about to go through a major upgrade, which will allow easier use, and more communication.
- I'll give you more details about this next week, and the upgrade will go through the following week, if all goes well.
- Theres a top-secret project in the works, which will allow you to regularly communicate with the devs, one on one.
- A big 'ole contest will be announced tomorrow.
- Those new wallpapers I promised way back in the day? I havent forgotten about that either. I've been working on those very recently.
- Starting today, we'll be breaking out a new forum theme skin, which is called "DDO's Happy Place" and consists of Pink and Flowers and Bunnies and ButterFlies and Rainbows. As an alternative to the infraction system. This theme will be automatically turned on for every member when more than 20 points have been given out in a day. The theme will remain active for 7 days, and will revert only if the level of daily infraction points has dropped below 20. For a preview of this theme, see the screenshot attached.
Thanks always, for your patience, and for being one of the best gaming communities out there.
